I was born in Calcutta (now Kolkata) and spent my childhood in Jamshedpur, a small town in the eastern region of India. Much of my early art education came from my family and private teachers. My maternal grandfather, C. R. Ghose, was a well-known artist in Kolkata and I grew up seeing him paint in his studio. He had a significant contribution towards my understanding of shape, form, value and color. Later I moved to the United States and got the chance to visit art galleries and museums around the world. I was drawn to Realism and was truly inspired by works of classical and contemporary masters.
For the past eight years I have been studying figurative drawing and painting with contemporary artists at workshops and for the most part, on my own. A few of my works have been accepted into various juried shows in America, including the Salon International Show in San Antonio, TX and Stockton Art League Juried Show at the Haggin Museum in Stockton, CA. I am also a Software Engineer by profession and love to make lives of people easier with technology.
I try to capture a mood that is very spontaneous. My subjects are drawn from moments in our daily lives and include portraits, still-life and landscapes. My ambition is to travel around the world and capture beautiful moments of life that usually are forgotten in the daily hustle and bustle.
